SCHRADER LOOKS FORWARD TO RACING AT THE GLEN
Ken Schrader, driver of the Little Debbie Ford Fusion responds to his fan’s questions this week about Watkins Glen, owning a Busch or Truck team, next year and other topics.
How confident are you going into Watkins Glen that you can have a solid top 10 or top 15 run? It seemed like the car was great at Sears Point but you never got to show it. “We had a real good car at Sears Point, but I parked it in a real bad spot early, so it makes me feel a lot better about going to Watkins Glen. We’ve struggled at the road courses the last couple of years, but I’m looking forward to having a solid run up there.”
Do you plan to get together with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. for a concert and question/answer and autographs any time soon? “There is nothing like that planned right now.”
Will Ken be participating in this year's Charity Ride from Montana to NC? “It’s over now. We’ve been on Kyle’s charity ride three times, and it’s a lot of fun. We’ve just been dirt racing and that’s why we haven’t been able to do it lately.”
Which has a better cost/profit (if any) benefit, owning & running your truck or owning & running a Busch car? “There is no benefit or profit at all without sponsorship. It costs a lot more to run the Busch Series than it does to run the Truck Series. It depends on how much sponsorship you’ve got, and you have to know that before you can make that decision.”
Are you planning on going back to Thunder Road next year? If so, do you have to worry about any paybacks from the #20 (Brett Wheeler)? “I don’t know if we will be going to Thunder Road next year or not. Heck, I don’t even know if we’re going to be in New Hampshire next year.”
Can you talk about your plans for 2007? “We’re talking about ’07, but I don’t know what is going to happen yet, so we’re not there yet.”
