SCHRADER HEADS TO A PERSONAL FAVORITE—

PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

After a weekend when very little went right at Texas Motor Speedway, Ken Schrader is glad to be heading out to Phoenix International Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 on Saturday night. Phoenix International Raceway is a one-mile track where Schrader has enjoyed some tremendous success over the years in many different classes of racing. He’s won events there in the USAC Silver Crown Series, the ARCA Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. And with this being the third “Car of Tomorrow” race of the sixteen planned 2007 rollout, all eyes will be on the performance of the newly-designed chassis at the largest track that these cars have seen to date.

The Wood Brothers/JTG race team is still just outside of the top-35 in owner points for automatic entry each week, but they are only 36 points outside the margin heading into this weekend’s event. Ken Schrader will bring a brand new COT chassis, C-4, which he previously tested in the Richmond International Raceway COT test a few weeks ago. Motorcraft will again be the primary sponsor for their second of eight races in 2007.

WHAT THE TEAM HAS TO SAY
Ken Schrader, driver of the No. 21 Motorcraft Ford:
“I think this is a team due for some luck in a different direction. You can’t control luck, but I do believe in the law of averages—so I think its gotta be our turn soon for a turnaround. I like the car that we’re bringing this weekend. It was pretty responsive to the changes we made to it during the Richmond test.

I’m pretty pleased that Phoenix is on the calendar this week. I’ve always run pretty well at this place and we need to run pretty well right now. For as hard as all of the guys on this team have worked over the past month, we should have something to smile about when we leave here Saturday night.”

Ernie Cope, Crew Chief of the No. 21 Motorcraft Ford:
“We’ve spent more than a couple of race days this year dealing with things that we can’t control, but it hasn’t been from a lack of preparation by the guys on this team. I think they work as hard as anybody in the garage area and it’s going to show up pretty soon on the results side.

We’ve got a solid COT car for this weekend that did well at the Richmond Test. We’ve got to be on top of our game on Friday for qualifying and once we get that down, we can turn our full attention to the race setup and finishing where we deserve, not where we end up.”
