Ken Schrader will be making his first career NASCAR start at Nashville Superspeedway when he pilots the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge on Saturday. Schrader competed at NSS in an ARCA vehicle scoring a victory in the first ever ARCA event at NSS.
The Toyota 200 will mark Schrader’s 82nd NCTS start. In his previous 81 races Schrader has an average starting position of 15th and finishing of 16th.
Schrader will pilot “Timmy” this weekend at Nashville. Schrader last drove this particular chassis at Michigan International Speedway.
Bobby Hamilton Racing Open House: Bobby Hamilton Racing will once again host their Open House on Thursday, August 9th. The event will run from 5pm until 8pm. It will include an autograph session, pit crew competition, racing games and much more. There will be a $5 charge at the door. Children five and under will be let in free. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
A Look Back: In 2004 Bobby Hamilton Sr. scored his only win at Nashville Superspeedway. It was his fourth and final win en route to the 2004 NCTS Championship. The famed Gibson Guitar trophy was one of Hamilton’s favorites.
Hamilton Remembered: The late Hamilton Sr. will be remembered during the pre race show before the Toyota Tundra 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Saturday, August 11th. Race fans are encouraged to wear their favorite Bobby Hamilton paraphernalia. Also, University Medical Center Staff and BHR team members will wear blue ribbons in memory of Hamilton during this weekend’s activities. Hamilton Sr. was a spokes person for the hospital for many years.
Schrader on Racing at Nashville: “I ran the first event ever held at the Nashville Superspeedway. It was an ARCA race and we won. I am not sure why, but they did not present us with the guitar. I guess it was not given to the ARCA winner at that time. I was truly heart broken. Everyone wants to win that guitar. I don’t think you will meet a driver in the garage area who doesn’t have that trophy on their list. That is one of the many reasons why I am excited about Driving the Fastenal Dodge this weekend. Nashville was Bobby's (Hamilton Sr.) home track. He had so many fans in this area and I hope we can put on a show for them. You always want to run good for Bobby, but there is something about Nashville that is extra special. I really want to run good for him here.”
